Starting with users sharing their own personal stories, to breaking down stigma and building resilience, TikTok aims to build a community that helps users share their health-related content and find trustworthy resources. To that end, TikTok is now partnering with the World Health Organization (WHO) through Fides, a network of trusted health care professionals and TikTok video creators, to create credible content and combat misinformation.
Through this partnership, video creators from the Fides network in the US, UK, France, Japan, Korea, Indonesia, Mexico, and Brazil will work with TikTok to create evidence-based content aimed at raising awareness. TikTok will also donate $3 million to support WHO’s global work in raising awareness about mental health conditions and building an empathetic, supportive online community.
Building Trust and Driving Change Through the Fides Network
WHO’s Fides network plays a key role in mobilizing health-focused video creators to counter misinformation and promote evidence-based content. Fides has shown that it can drive meaningful change by building trusted communication through a community of over 800 creators who reach millions of people across various platforms.

Through the partnership with WHO, TikTok will connect Fides creators to help translate complex scientific research across various health topics into video content that’s easy for a general audience to understand and relate to. TikTok will also work closely with WHO to provide creators with training programs and resources to better support their work.
“Millions of people come to TikTok every day to find and share communities related to every aspect of their lives, including their health. We’re committed to making sure they can find trustworthy information on this important topic. That’s why we’re excited today to strengthen our commitment to bringing our community connected and credible mental health content through our partnership with the World Health Organization’s Fides network,” said Valiant Richey, Global Head of Trust and Safety Outreach and Partnerships at TikTok.
Avisha NessAiver (@distilledscience) is a scientist who translates complex research into accessible language and specializes in debunking health misinformation, contributing to both WHO’s Fides network and the UN’s Team Halo. Her videos have amassed over 100 million views across platforms.
“The Fides network is a powerful force that transforms independent scientists and health experts into a united force. It arms them with knowledge and strategy to effectively combat the spread of health misinformation,” she said.
