The For You feed helps users discover videos and creators that match their interests. To offer more control over this discovery experience, TikTok is expanding a new feature called “Manage Topics.” This feature lets users select from over ten popular content categories—including art, travel, nature, and sports—to customize what is suggested on their feed.

While this setting does not remove content entirely, over time it can influence how often certain content types are recommended based on the user’s interests.

Introducing Smart Keyword Filtering

To help users better curate their video feed, TikTok has long supported keyword filters that allow users to limit content containing specific words. These filters are already being used to screen over 200 million keywords across global feeds.

Now, TikTok is rolling out a new AI-powered setting called “Smart Keyword Filters” that goes further by identifying and filtering related terms. It shows users which additional keywords are being filtered, and users can choose to add or remove any of them selectively.

As this feature becomes more widely used, TikTok expects it to improve in accuracy. In the coming months, the platform plans to increase the keyword limit to 200 and allow users to batch-select keyword groups for more efficient feed customization.
