Unihertz, a little-known small company based in Shanghai, is set to release its first products — two phones called Jelly and Jelly Pro, both claiming the title of the world’s smallest — this coming August.
Both phones run on 4G and use Android 7.0 Nougat. The body measures 3.6″ x 1.7″ and weighs just 60.4 g. The 2.45″ screen has a resolution of only 240 x 432 pixels, so images may look somewhat blurry. Both phones use a quad-core 1.1GHz CPU; the Jelly comes with 1GB RAM and 8GB ROM, while the Jelly Pro steps up to 2GB RAM and 16GB ROM. Both models support expandable storage up to 32GB via SD card. The battery is 950 mAh, and the phones come in white, black, and blue. They feature a 2MP front camera and 8MP rear camera, and support dual Nano SIM cards. Both include WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, and various sensors, and work on GSM and WCDMA networks. The Jelly and Jelly Pro — both contenders for the title of world’s smallest smartphone — are priced at $109 and $125 respectively.
Unihertz turned to Kickstarter to fund production of the two phones, hitting its $30,000 goal within just an hour. By the next day, pledges had climbed to nearly $300,000, reflecting strong backer support. For more details, visit the campaign page here.
