MPT Completes Upgrade to High-Speed Fiber Cable System in Selected Regions, Announces Permanent Closure of Copper Network

In Ord​er to improve quality and provide better services, MPT has been upgrading its auto- telephone services to an advanced high-speed fiber cable system (FTTH) since 2016.

Now, the system upgrading is completed in the Ayeyarwady Region, Bago Region (West), Magway Region, Mandalay Region, Tanintharyi Region, Yangon Region, Nay Pyi Taw Council Area, Mon State, Shan State (East & South) listed in the table below. As a result, the auto-telephone services in these areas will now be exclusively provided through the advanced FTTH system, replacing the existing copper cable network.

Effective 9^th April 2025, all auto-telephone numbers previously operated via the copper cable network will be permanently closed. Customers will seamlessly transition to new auto-telephone numbers on the fiber network and can continue to enjoy uninterrupted services with their new numbers. But some areas (customer locations are far from FTTH network) have technical difficulties where MPT will not be available to provide VOIP service.
