In order to provide better quality and more modern services, Myanma Posts and Telecommunications (MPT) will be upgrading the NGN (Next Generation Network) system connected to its MSAN exchanges in Yangon Region to a more advanced vIMS (Virtual IP Multimedia Subsystem) system. Because of this, landline phone number customers may experience brief service interruptions of around 20 minutes on their respective scheduled dates during the upgrade. MPT sincerely apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause and asks for your understanding.
MPT is Myanmar’s first and leading telecom operator, having led the development of the telecommunications industry for more than 130 years. It provides fixed-line and mobile communication services to the public and businesses, operates the country’s largest nationwide 3G network, and also runs Myanmar’s fastest and most advanced 4G/LTE+ network using MIMO 4×4 technology.

In July 2014, MPT signed a partnership agreement with KDDI Summit Global Myanmar (KSGM), which is jointly owned by Japanese partners KDDI Corporation (KDDI) and Sumitomo Corporation (Sumitomo). To accelerate the development of Myanmar’s telecommunications sector, MPT partnered with KDDI and Sumitomo with the goal of investing 2 billion US dollars over ten years — a move that stood as one of Japan’s largest investments in Myanmar’s history.
With more than 7,000 employees, MPT continues to work in partnership with KSGM to relentlessly drive the growth of the telecommunications sector, upholding its corporate social responsibility values as it works to help move Myanmar forward. MPT currently serves more than 20 million customers.
