The most popular Myanmar font is not Unicode, but Zawgyi font in Myanmar.
For that reason, the characters written on websites and SNS are often Zawgyi fonts,
If you do not install Zawgyi font, websites are garbled.
Myanmar government has issued a policy of unifying it to Unicode, but most people are using Zawgyi font, so it is not easy to switch to Unicode.
Because the arrangement of the keyboard is different, the person who entered in Zawgyi can not easily switch to Unicode unless there is nothing inconvenient.
With Unicode becoming commonly used, Zawgyi font will not be used for at least several years until device(PC, tablet and smartphone) replacement is completed.
From the side of making a web site, it is a troublesome problem.
We will choose one of three options.
1. In anticipation of Unicode becoming popular, create a website in Unicode
2. It takes time to migrate from Zawgyi to Unicode, so make a web site with Zawgyi
3. Build both Unicode and Zawgyi’s website
The existence of a web site that selects 2 or 3 is a factor that prevents switching from Zawgyi to Unicode, so we expect that the number of websites selecting 1 will increase and that switching to Unicode will proceed.
