MPT Is Paying 1.5 Million Kyats for a TikTok Dance — Here’s What the Prize Pool Is Actually Worth

MPT is running a TikTok campaign called “Dance with MPT, Growth with MPT” from July 28 to September 27, 2026. It is open to MPT SIM users, including MPT eSIM users, and it has two separate tracks with 204 winners between them. The top individual prize is 1,500,000 Kyats in cash.

Unlike most operator promotions, this one is still open — there are roughly five weeks left at the time of writing. So below is what you actually have to do, followed by something the announcement does not tell you: what the prize pool is worth once you price the data prizes at MPT’s own rates.

Track one: the Dance with MPT Challenge

This is the creator track. According to MPT’s announcement, entry requires all of the following:

  • Follow the MPT official TikTok account, @mptofficialpage.
  • Create a dance video using the campaign’s official music.
  • Perform either the official choreography or your own routine.
  • Post the video publicly on TikTok, mention @MPTOfficialPage, and include the hashtags #DanceWithMPT, #WeLoveMPT and #FYP.
  • Send a screenshot of the post to MPT’s official TikTok inbox to confirm your entry.

Winners are selected based on genuine likes, shares, comments, bookmarks and video views. MPT’s wording specifically says genuine engagement, which is a quiet acknowledgement that engagement can be bought.

Prizes: 44 winners in total — two first prizes of 1,500,000 Ks each, two second prizes of 500,000 Ks each, and 40 “Best Dance Contributor” awards of 10GB of MPT data each.

Track two: the Growth with MPT TikTok Reward

This is the low-effort track, and it is the one most readers are more likely to enter. You do not have to dance:

  • Follow @mptofficialpage.
  • Pick a campaign video you like, then Love and Repost it.
  • Send a screenshot to MPT’s TikTok inbox.

Prizes: 160 people selected at random receive 2GB of MPT data each.

Winners for both tracks will be announced on MPT’s official Facebook page and TikTok account, and contacted directly through TikTok inbox.

What we would add: pricing the prize pool

MPT’s announcement lists the prizes but never says what the campaign is worth. That is normal for promotional material, and it is also the number readers actually want. We can work it out, because we published MPT’s current data package pricing three weeks ago.

At MPT’s own listed rates, a 10GB Data Carry Plus pack costs 37,889 Ks and a 2GB pack costs 7,579 Ks. Applying those:

  • Cash prizes: (2 × 1,500,000) + (2 × 500,000) = 4,000,000 Ks
  • 40 × 10GB data = 40 × 37,889 = about 1,515,600 Ks
  • 160 × 2GB data = 160 × 7,579 = about 1,212,600 Ks

That gives a total prize pool of roughly 6.7 million Kyats, of which about 40% is data rather than cash, and 720GB of data in total across 200 recipients.

Two things follow from that arithmetic. First, the headline figure everyone will repeat — 1.5 million Kyats — is under a quarter of what MPT is actually putting up. Second, the data portion costs MPT considerably less than its retail value, because network capacity is not the same as cash out the door. Valuing the pool at retail is the fairest comparison available to a reader deciding whether to enter, but it is worth understanding that a data prize and a cash prize of the same face value are not the same thing to the company handing them out.

The entry step most people will miss

Both tracks require you to send a screenshot to MPT’s TikTok inbox after posting or reposting. This is easy to overlook, and it is the step that decides whether your entry counts.

It also means participation is not measured by the hashtag alone. You can post a video with all three hashtags, tag the account correctly, get good engagement — and still not be entered, because MPT has no record of you. If you are going to the trouble of making a dance video, do not skip the screenshot.

The announcement does not state a deadline for sending the screenshot relative to posting, nor whether multiple entries per person are allowed. Those are worth checking on MPT’s own channels before you plan around them.

Why an operator is running a dance contest

The framing in MPT’s announcement is that the campaign exists to encourage young people’s creativity and to connect more closely with customers. That is the standard language, and it is broadly true. But the mechanics tell you more precisely what MPT is buying: follows on @mptofficialpage, reposts of MPT content into other people’s feeds, and a supply of user-generated video carrying MPT branding.

The “Growth with MPT” track in particular is not a creative contest at all — it pays 160 people in data to follow, love and repost. That is a follower-and-distribution campaign, priced at roughly 1.2 million Kyats of retail data. Framing it alongside the dance challenge makes it read as one campaign, but the two tracks are buying different things.

The takeaway

This is a genuinely open promotion with five weeks left and a low-effort entry route that most operator campaigns do not offer. If you use MPT and spend any time on TikTok, the Growth track costs you about a minute. What the announcement leaves out is the shape of the pool: 6.7 million Kyats of value, 40% of it in data, spread across 204 people — and one required step, the screenshot to MPT’s inbox, that quietly separates the entries that count from the ones that do not.
