ATOM Donates Towards the Construction of a Nursery School Building at a Monastic School in Phayargyi Village, Yangon, to Support the Education of Over 500 Children

ATOM, Myanmar’s leading 4.5G VoLTE network provider, continues its commitment to education and community development with a donation of approximately MMK 150 million (150,000,000 Kyats) towards the construction of a nursery school building at Mingalar Taik Kyaung Monastic School in Phayargyi Village, Twantay Township, Yangon Region. Construction of the school, which commenced in June 2023 and was recently completed is set to benefit the early education needs of more than 500 children in the village.

The donation is part of ATOM’s school development programme for 2024, under ATOM’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) pillar of ‘Advancing Life and Education’. This pillar encompasses addressing the critical need for educational infrastructure in rural areas and providing children with access to quality early childhood education.

The new nursery school building measures 50 feet by 80 feet, caters to children from the village and surrounding areas aged two and above. Previously, parents with young children faced the challenge of traveling long distances to send them to a nursery school. The new school will provide a safe and nurturing environment for early education conveniently located right within their own community, offering working parents peace of mind.

“ATOM strives to uplift the communities we serve, and the establishment of this nursery school in Phayargyi Village exemplifies our commitment to advancing life and education in Myanmar. By providing a safe and nurturing environment for young children, we’re laying the foundation for their future success. We’re delighted to have visited the newly-constructed school upon and witness first-hand how it enriches the educational journey of the children in the community,” shared Mr. Muhammad Ziaullah Siddiqui, CEO of ATOM.

Said A Shin Banddanta Pyin Nyar Nanda, the head monk of Mingalar Taik Kyaung Monastic School, “We are deeply grateful to ATOM for their generous donation, which will provide many children from our village with access to crucial early education. Thanks to ATOM’s support, children in Phayargyi Village will no longer have to travel long distances to attend nursery school, ensuring their safety and well-being. This school will not only benefit the current generation but will also have a lasting impact on the future of our community.”

The donation by ATOM coincides with the upcoming festive season of Thingyan and Myanmar New Year. During a donation handover ceremony held on 3 April 2024, ATOM employee volunteers brought joy to the children in Phayargyi Village by conducting game activities, serving them lunch, and distributing gifts such as school bags, pens, crayons, and colouring books. Additionally, Dr. Seint, Brand Ambassador of Trust Oo Co., Ltd. (ATOM’s telehealth partner), delivered a valuable health talk to the children and their families, focusing on the importance of maintaining good hygiene.
