The title “Breaking the Wall of the Skills Gap between Universities and the Employment Sector for STEM Graduates” won in Falling Walls Lab Myanmar 2020
The idea of the STEM graduates represents Myanmar won the first prize in Falling Walls Lab Myanmar 2020 with the title of “Breaking the Wall of the Skills Gap between Universities and the Employment Sector for STEM Graduates”.
Ma Wut Hmone Hnin Hlaing won over the seven other contestants with her ideas. The titles “Breaking down the wall of consolation”, “Demolition of food waste wall in rural areas” also won in second and third places which were difficult to obtain.
Falling Walls Lab is a challenging competition for talented young beginners to showcase their ideas, innovation, connecting with like-minded young people around the world, and presenting their own ideas and innovations to overcome the challenges of today. Due to the current situation of COVID-19, the competition was held online in Yangon on 26 September and was broadcast live on FNF Myanmar’s social media page. The winner and 1st runner up winner will be presented at the online Online Global Lab launched in Berlin, Germany, and will be participating in the Global Extended Program organized by the Falling Walls organization in Berlin.
A total of eight contestants are participated in Falling Walls Lab Myanmar in 2020 with the following titles, “Breaking down barriers to human resource development”, “Breaking down revenue-generating barriers for lottery retailers”, “Breaking down barriers to traditional farming”, “Breaking down barriers to easy-to-access counseling”, “Breaking down barriers to the irregular income of local farmers”, “Breaking down barriers between qualifications in universities and careers for STEM graduates”, and “Breaking down food waste in rural areas”.
Daw Biak Hlei Sung, Program Manager of FNF Myanmar said “We are very proud to be able to support these young entrepreneurs along with their innovations and to overcome today’s challenges. Throughout the program, seeing the morale and ability of this year’s contestants seems to be significant for the country’s future. We, FNF will continue to support the young entrepreneurs in Myanmar. Daw Swe Zin Hike, who acted as the judge of this event said “I’m proud to be explained on behalf of both the judges and the judges at this event. Choosing the best of the best contestants is also a real challenge. I pray that the idea presented will be implemented and benefit for the country. And we look forward to continuing to do your best for the rest of the competition”.
Daw Swe Zin Htike from Communications Service Company Ltd., Daw Hla Hla Win, CEO of 360ed, Daw Cindy Chaw Khin Khin, CEO of MCC Group Myanmar, Mr. Ravi CHahhbra, CEO of Yangon Innovation Center, and U Thua Aung, and a member of the Myanmar Competition Commission acted as judges this year.
