MPT Celebrates 6th Graduation Ceremony of Nationwide Digital Skills Education Program

MPT, Myanmar’s first and leading telecommunications operator, celebrates the success of its “Digital Skills to Go Forward” Program with a ceremony marking the graduation of the latest batch of students. The ceremony is being held at Royal Rose Restaurant, Yangon and more than 2,000 students completed computer literacy courses through this program for the current graduation batch. This year, MPT will extend its supports such as the provision of the internet services and maintenance fees including the “Training of Trainers” program for graduate students.

MPT’s “Digital Skills to Go Forward” Program focuses on empowering Myanmar’s underprivileged youth through computer skills training. Since its launch in 2016, more than 3,800 students from different parts of the country attended courses under this program and developed crucial computer literacy skills. MPT provided 300 laptops, Wi-Fi facilities, and data connectivity, as well as support for extra trainers to cover the student courses.

Moreover, MPT provides support to graduate students in becoming trainers at MPT’s training facility so they can spread their knowledge and skillsets across local communities and ultimately help create the next generation of leaders. Trainers undergo rigorous training programs on how to develop and provide interactive lessons to transfer skills in the most effective and efficient way. It is crucial to develop teaching methodologies to maximize the outcomes of the program in the future. This is one of the good examples of skill transfer to others in order to give encouragement and initial responsibility. This program is operated in collaboration with the NLD Education Network.

“My experience has been great. The trainers of the program are very highly skilled and they could not have done more to make the experience enjoyable. Courses offered by MPT and NLDEN create not only have knowledge and skills of computer literacy but can lead to real job opportunities for the Myanmar youth. Thanks to the training and improvement of my new skillsets, I was able to find a job easily. I am very excited to showcase my enhanced digital skills at my workplace. Now I will be able to work in an even more efficient and effective way,”, said Ko Thar Nge Lwin, one of the graduates of MPT’s “Digital Skills to Go Forward Program”.
