Ooredoo Myanmar Receives Two Esteemed CSR Awards at the World CSR Congress 2022
As a testament to Ooredoo Myanmar’s sustained efforts and commitment to enriching people’s lives, Ooredoo was awarded the Global CSR Excellence and Leadership Awards in the categories of Community Development and of Best Covid-19 Solution for Community Care at the World CSR Congress 2022.
Since Myanmar reported its first COVID-19 case in March 2020 till date, Ooredoo Myanmar has contributed over 3.9 billion kyats in total through different initiatives to support Myanmar’s combat against COVID-19. During the second and third waves of the COVID-19 crisis in Myanmar in 2020 and 2021, Ooredoo Myanmar donated much required medical equipment such as the ventilators, defibrillators, oxygen concentrators, and oxygen cylinders to save the lives of COVID-19 infected patients and assist the country in recovering from the pandemic. Moreover, employees of Ooredoo Myanmar raised funds from their own salaries for two times during Myanmar’s COVID-19 second and third waves and donated essential medical equipment worth over 67 million kyats in total.

Recognizing that telecommunications is one of the most important sectors for a country and its people to have access to accurate and up-to-date health information or guidelines, as well as to stay in touch with family and friends, Ooredoo Myanmar made every effort to provide uninterrupted telecommunications services. In addition, Ooredoo Myanmar donated over 14,000 SIM cards loaded with free internet packages and top-up to quarantine centers and volunteer ambulance networks.
To take precautionary measures, Ooredoo Myanmar supported to provide COVID-19 update info, free consultation and healthcare advice to the public, such as disseminating COVID-19 educational SMS, sharing COVID-19 educational posts and videos produced by MOHS via all of the Ooredoo Myanmar’s social media communications channels, providing toll-free calls to MOHS COVID19 Consultation Hotline, consultation call centers at all states and regions.
During COVID-19 pandemic, Ooredoo Myanmar has also reached out to the underserved communities and supported with the basic needs – such as providing basic food packs to over 1,500 households in needy communities by teaming up with “People to People Sharing Group, donating 95 foot-operated hand wash basins and liquid hand-soap to 33 monastic education schools and orphanage schools throughout the country.
In recognition of the above efforts, Ooredoo Myanmar was awarded Best Covid-19 Solution for Community Care at the World CSR Congress 2022.

Ooredoo Myanmar also earned Global CSR Excellence and Leadership Award in the Community Development Category with the Sustainable Enterprises and Agricultural Development (SEAD) Project. As the agriculture sector is the backbone of Myanmar economy, Ooredoo Myanmar supported the Sustainable Enterprises and Agricultural Development (SEAD) Project in partnership with UNDP with the aim to establish a sustainable rural development model in Myanmar’s Dry Zone Region, leveraging Ooredoo’s advanced mobile technology and UNDP’s experience in promoting climate-resilient farming practices. The SEAD project has contributed to improve the income and livelihood of the farmers through sustainable farming practices and physical trainings and digital advisory channels such as the App, Viber and YouTube. The SEAD project has benefitted 39,391 households from 130 villages in Myanmar’s Dry Zone Region.
