Google Pixel 9 with Auto-Record and Transcribe Feature Powered by AI

Google’s Pixel 9 series, set to launch around August, is packed with a wide range of AI features. Beyond the AI features already found on typical phones, one standout addition is a set of advanced AI capabilities that can record, transcribe, and summarize phone calls.

According to leaked highlights, the Pixel 9 will include an AI feature called Call Notes. This feature reportedly includes call recording and transcription, along with AI-powered summarization. The Recorder app on the Pixel 8 already supports recording and transcription, so Call Notes may essentially be an enhanced version of those same capabilities.

Call Notes could become a feature built directly into Google’s own phone app. For privacy reasons, Google may also have Gemini Nano handle recording, transcription, and summarization directly on the device.

Apple’s iOS 18 also includes call recording and transcription features, putting it in direct competition with Google. Since iOS 18 will notify users whenever these features are in use, Google may look to turn strict, transparent privacy handling into an advantage of its own. While Apple’s Live Call Recording feature supports English, Spanish, French, German, Japanese, Chinese, and Portuguese, it’s not yet known which languages Google’s Call Notes feature will support.
