Ooredoo announces Winners of the “APPathon” Myanmar’s first Virtual and Digital Design Innovation Challenge
From 157 participants, Ooredoo Myanmar has selected 3 winning teams and 2 runner-ups for the APPathon, Myanmar’s first virtual and digital design innovation challenge.
Hexa Tech team has been revealed as the winner of the APPathon challenge and has collected the US$ 3,000 prize. The Renovation for Lifestyle team has been named as the second winner, earning a US$ 2,000 prize, while the NXT team has secured a third-place with a US$ 1,000 prize. “We had a lot of preparation time for Ooredoo APPathon. By using this preparation time, we were able to make the best of each version with the help of references, local surveys, and the advices from our school seniors. We are very happy to win the first prize with our Redesigned MOA. We would like to thank Ooredoo for creating the Expert Talk program and giving the opportunities for young people during the Covid-19 period,” Hexa Tech, the winning team, explained.
All participants were judged based on the main 3 criteria which are the idea generation—
(1) The ability to demonstrate the generation of design ideas based on factors such as accessibility, functions, and research, user-centric process
(2) The demonstration of the understanding of user needs to be based on factors such as flow, information architecture (IA), purpose, and visual, and system thinking
(3) The understanding of system requirements based on factors such as cross-platform, consistency, and error-handling.

The APPathon, Myanmar’s first virtual and digital innovation challenge, aims to engage and empower Myanmar’s youth to co-create the next generation of digital products and services. This Innovation Challenge seeks to drive product design innovation. All the participants had to redesign “My Ooredoo App” by providing innovative and creative design inputs to offer the best user interface and customer experience. Throughout the challenge, participants received feedback and mentorship from Ooredoo & industry experts.
