Over 4 million Kyats worth of digital donations of Ooredoo Myanmar
Ooredoo Myanmar has donated over 4,420 Lakh Kyats worth of digital materials to 37monastic schools and social organizations with the aim of digital, social, and educational sectors developing in Myanmar.
1221 tablets, 511 smartphones, 2,452 routers, including 1,728 SIM cards with monthly data plans and a total of 4,184 digital devices were donated to 37 monastic schools, Myanmar Book Aid and Preservation Foundation (MBAPF), Myanmar Library Association (MLA), Monastic Education Development Group (MEDG) and Sustainable Enterprises and Agriculture Development plan (SEAD) in collaboration with United Nations Development Project (UNDP).
Library users, librarians, instructors from monastic schools, learners, trainers and students from digital library projects, some participants in the Tech Age Girl program, the farmers who are on duty in Myingyan and Nyaung Oo, tropical areas of Myanmar, and also the farmers who are involved in the Sustainable Enterprises and Agriculture Development project (SEAD) can get digital knowledges and other knowledges by using the modern digital technology with the supporting of Ooredoo. As the monastic sector performs an important role in educating the poor people in Myanmar, Ooredoo Myanmar donated it with a plan of “the more minutes speaks, the more Ooredoo donates”. Starting from 2017, this plan provided the necessary equipment, basic providing facilities and 39 school buildings, including internet connections and training programs with 59 projects.
Since 2019, Ooredoo Myanmar has partnered with UNDP to improve the livelihoods of farmers in Myanmar’s tropical zone through the Sustainable Enterprises and Agriculture Development plan (SEAD) project.
With the support of Ooredoo Myanmar, the people of Myanmar in these communities will be able to use these items, routers, and internet connections to get better their education development and digital skills development.
