The Tech Age Girls (TAG) Program announces 40 Winners of its Final Community Project Competition

The Tech Age Girls (TAG) Program has named the 40 winners of the final community project competition after a year-long intensive training program.

The 40 winners will be invited to the leadership summit and will receive the necessary mentorship, technical, and financial assistance to carry out their suggested community projects in their respective communities.

Following the completion of three phases, 108 TAG participants competed in the final project presentation, in which the participants were encouraged to build solutions based on community needs by utilizing the technical skills learned via the current TAG program.  The winners were selected based on their project presentations and their commitment to the implementation of the projects. The presentation evaluation framework includes an assessment of community needs, partnership, use of technology, presentation Delivery, and creativity.

Ooredoo Myanmar awarded all the winners with brand-new laptops that they can utilize during the project’s implementation in their areas. All the awards for the 40 TAG winners will be delivered to their respective States and Regions. Photo Source http://www.ooredoo.com.mm

The Leadership Summit under TAG Program (2021) has been organized virtually for 9 Days, from 13th to 21st December 2021.

The Leadership Summit will feature a Women Entrepreneurs Panel Discussion, Women Community Leaders Panel Discussion, Community Project Poster Competition, Review of their community project and practice the panel discussion, and the Grit for Girls Program, which is specifically designed to provide resources and an environment that inspires and empowers girls to make better life decisions and educate girls on issues that affect their social, emotional, spiritual, and physical well-being.

TAG Program is organized by Myanmar Book Aid and Preservation Foundation (MBAPF), and, it is a year-long program equipping young women, aged 16-20, with technology skills as a tool for leadership and community development. The program maximizes females’ productive use of technology for leadership and community development so that it can benefit not only the participating females but also their communities.

Since 2016, Ooredoo Myanmar has provided connectivity and devices to the program. Seeing the program’s results, Ooredoo Myanmar became the program’s main sponsor of TAG in 2019. Following the program’s success in 2019, Ooredoo Myanmar has increased its support by doubling the number of selected participants so that over 200 young women were given the opportunity to participate in the Tech Age Girls 2020-21.
