Telenor introduces Web Shield Service for business to protect from Cyber Threats

Telenor Myanmar has introduced Myanmar’s first Cloud-based technology internet security service, Telenor Web Shield for all business customers.

The current digital security technology provided through the Telenor Network will protect customers from cyber threats like accessing the information on a computer or network through malicious software or viruses, phishing important information by pretending to be someone through email, phone and message, and botnets attack, deceptive attacks to gain control of machines sharing the same network. Daw Yin Yin Htay, Chief Financial Officer of Telenor Myanmar said “Many Businesses are now using online and relying on secure digital communications. Also, COVID-19 is accelerating the pace of digital transformation. Entrepreneurs and management should also be prepared to protect themselves from increasing cyber threats. Users can focus more on their business which is most important to them as there is no need to do anything and just protect the business by connecting to the network.”

Concerns about cybersecurity and online security are on the rise in Myanmar and the consumers expect telecom operators and the government to provide protection. According to a U-Report Myanmar survey conducted earlier this year, four out of 10 respondents expect Internet service providers to help protect them online.

Telenor Web Shield will use Domain Name System (DNS) security technology to protect users’ cybersecurity threats even when they are not connected. The Web Shield service analyzes the information sent by the DNS, detects threats accurately, and provides precise protection.

The Telenor Web Shield is designed to reduce costs and complexity, making it more convenient and efficient for small businesses. It is supported on the Telenor network with secure technology, so it is convenient and does not require any additional software or configurations to be installed on the user’s device. With cybersecurity on the web, business customers are better off with services provided by specialized software companies and it will also provide real-time protection. Photo Source https://www.telenor.com.mm/en/business/Web-Shield-Service

Sid Pisharoti, Regional Vice President of APJ Media, Telenor Myanmar’s Technical partner, and Carrier from Akamai commented that “To protect employees and partners of Small and medium enterprises from cyberattacks, you may be faced with the challenge of which kind of cybersecurity technology to use except the conventional firewall and antivirus software. Firewalls and antivirus software can protect against some cyber threats, but today’s security challenges include malware, Phishing and botnets are becoming more sophisticated. By providing Web Shield service on the existing network, Telenor will be able to provide better protection for business customers.”

Devices and businesses have the potential to be hit by cyberattacks, but Telenor Web Shield will protect users from such situations. Web Shield service will be available for free until 28th February 2021, if mobile business customers sign up during the launch period. Telenor Web Shield is designed to comply with customer-based privacy information security policies to provide a transparent and sustainable security service for its customers.
