Reports are spreading that Apple — which has resisted adding a touchscreen to the MacBook for years — may soon introduce a touchscreen MacBook after all. A Chinese leaker known for accurate Apple-related leaks posted on a Chinese social media platform claiming that a touchscreen MacBook is “100% certain.” According to the leaker, the information came from within the supply chain, and this same source has correctly predicted other Apple product details in the past.
References to touch input have also turned up in the macOS 27 “Gate” beta introduced at WWDC 2026. The APIs released for developers reportedly include a system that can distinguish between touch input and mouse input, and the interface has been adjusted to be easier to use by hand.
Despite the rumors, Apple isn’t expected to turn the MacBook into a touch-first device like the iPad. Instead, it’s expected to offer a touch-friendly experience that lets users switch between the trackpad, mouse, and touchscreen as needed.
Reports also suggest that upcoming MacBooks may feature an OLED display, M6 Pro/M6 Max chips, a thinner design, and new features such as a Dynamic Island. There’s also talk that the MacBook Pro name could be replaced with “MacBook Ultra.” However, it’s not yet clear exactly when a touchscreen MacBook will actually be introduced.
