PUBG MOBILE announces more than 20,000 online gamers in Myanmar during Covid-19

The Covid-19 outbreak has led to a growing interest in gaming and the esports industry during the stay-home period. DOTA 2, PC games such as League of Legends; with more and more gamers playing mobile games, interest in the esports industry is growing rapidly.

According to a survey by PUBG MOBILE, the number of online gamers in Myanmar increased by more than 20,000 during the Covid-19 period, and the number of gamers in the esports industry increased by 100% every year.

PUBG MOBILE (PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds Mobile), which has secured a foothold in Myanmar, has seen an increase in the number of male and female players, with 20 percent girls and 80 percent of boys playing. PUBG is hosting not only regional competitions but also international competitions for Myanmar gamers. Competitions such as PMCO (PUBG MOBILE Club Opens) SEA Final and PMPL (PUBG Mobile Pro League), the biggest international competitions,  are being held to compete with other national teams.

“It is gratifying to see that the teams in Myanmar have improved so much over the years. Direct Spot will be given to the Myanmar national team starting this year in the SEA Qualifiers. There are also plans to hold a number of basic competitions that will allow professional tournaments to compete internationally. Esports competitions in Myanmar are still relatively small compared to other countries, but with more domestic competitions and better training, Esports will be able to become a career for players who reach the international level.
