Around 2.2 billion people worldwide currently live with vision impairment, and according to a 2019 survey, over 600,000 people in Myanmar face some form of visual impairment. For them, “voice” plays one of the most important roles in staying connected with their loved ones every day.

To share love with those living with these differences and help bring brighter days together, Samsung Myanmar ran its “To the Brightest Days” social media campaign alongside its annual Love & Care corporate social responsibility program, inviting Samsung users to take part in this meaningful voice donation. So far, over 350 Samsung Members have registered to take part in this meaningful cause.
Samsung Myanmar also held this year’s Love & Care event today at Yangon School for the Blind in Khawe Chan, Mayangone Township, Yangon. The meaningful donation event was attended by Samsung Myanmar staff, Samsung Members, Team Galaxy members Pann Yaung Chal and May Toe Khaing, other artists, and media guests.

Samsung Myanmar donated 5 million kyats in general-use funds along with an additional 30 million kyats worth of Samsung products and teaching aids – a total of 35 million kyats in donations – to Yangon School for the Blind, which is home to 115 students with vision impairment, along with a lunch and keepsake gifts. Some Samsung Members and Team Galaxy artists also recorded voice donations for the children right there at the school. In the coming weeks, the more than 350 registered Samsung Members will also take part in this meaningful voice donation online, with their voice recordings continuing to be donated to schools for the blind across Myanmar.
Speaking about this meaningful donation, Reverend U Thein Lwin, General Secretary of the Myanmar Christian Fellowship for the Blind, said, “We are truly delighted that thoughtful and much-needed support has been provided for the children at our school. On behalf of Yangon School for the Blind, I would like to sincerely thank each and every member of the Samsung team for taking the time to come and contribute to this meaningful voice donation.”

During the Love & Care event, students from Yangon School for the Blind, alongside Reverend U Thein Lwin, also demonstrated the built-in TalkBack and Voice Command features on Samsung smartphones, which make it easier for people with vision impairment to use their phones.
Samsung has developed its Relumino Mode feature, which makes viewing easier for people with vision impairment worldwide, step by step based on the experiences and feedback of people with vision impairment. Relumino Mode is now available on select Samsung TV models.

Samsung launched its Love & Care corporate social responsibility program in Myanmar in 2015, providing financial and volunteer support to monastic education schools, orphanages, and organizations for the blind and people with disabilities across the country. Samsung intends to continue this meaningful Love & Care program going forward, supporting underprivileged communities, students, and various other groups in need across Myanmar to the best of its ability.
