OPPO first introduced the largest Cover Screen among flip phones with the Find N2 Flip, whose 3.26-inch Cover Screen brought a new, elevated experience to flip phones. Since the Find N2 Flip’s launch, the entire smartphone industry has followed OPPO’s lead, with Cover Screens on flip phones growing larger across the board.

Vertical is Better
When designing the Find N3 Flip, OPPO had a choice: follow the trend of simply making the Cover Screen even bigger, or take a different approach. To make this decision, OPPO researched which type of Cover Screen would deliver the best experience for users. Based on everyday usage patterns and OPPO’s understanding of its global user base, OPPO came to believe that “Vertical is Better.”
OPPO’s continued efforts are grounded in a deep understanding of how users actually use flip phones. OPPO’s research found that mobile users hold their phones in a vertical orientation more than 93% of the time. To enhance the overall value of a flip phone and meet users’ needs for an external screen, choosing a large vertical outer display was a clear and deliberate decision for OPPO.

Selfies Without Vertical Cropping
When using the Cover Screen to take selfies, users can preview the full image before shooting. Having found that users responded well to vertical cover screens in terms of user experience, OPPO designed the Find N3 Flip’s Cover Screen vertically for greater convenience, giving users the feel of using a mini phone right on the cover. Since the camera sensor and capture area align, photos can be taken without vertical cropping. The Find N3 Flip’s vertical Cover Screen gives users a better preview of the shot before taking it, helping them capture photos more effectively and with greater confidence.

Bigger Isn’t Always Better
OPPO’s vertical Cover Screen is designed so that most Android apps, which are built for vertical screens, work naturally and smoothly, displaying information more efficiently. Compared to other phones, the Find N3 Flip can show more of an email, message, or WhatsApp text directly on its Cover Screen.
While other phones may only be able to show a partial snippet of text on their cover displays, the Find N3 Flip can display fuller social media posts, along with up to four photos alongside a text message. These differences come down not simply to screen size, but to the practical, everyday performance users actually experience.

A New Kind of Cover Screen Experience
Over the past few months, OPPO has worked closely with partners, including Google, to ensure that every app on the phone works well on the Cover Screen, delivering a good experience app by app. Setting it apart from other phones, the Find N3 Flip supports more than 80 of the most popular apps directly on its Cover Screen.
This includes Google apps like Phone, Maps, Keep, and Gmail, as well as other popular apps for social media, short-form video, music streaming, food delivery, ride-hailing, maps, online payments, and more. Over time, more apps will become available on the Find N3 Flip’s capable Cover Screen through software updates. For an even better user experience, users can scan and download the OPPO App Launcher, created by OPPO developers, to use apps directly on the Cover Screen without needing separate third-party applications — including apps like Facebook, Messenger, and Instagram.

Users can make calls with Google Dial, play fun games via Game Snacks, easily book a ride with Grab, get around with Google Maps, browse their social media posts and videos, and reply instantly to Telegram messages using the Google Keyboard — all without unfolding the phone, directly from the Cover Screen. Thanks to this new app support, OPPO believes users will enjoy an entirely new Cover Screen experience on the Find N3 Flip.
