USA satellite to be hired and own satellite to be launched in coming years

U Kyaw Myo, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Transport and Communications, said that the USA satellite will be hired for communications and other related sectors, and they will carry on to launch owned satellite in coming years.
Moreover, the plan is to hire USA satellite and the satellite will be renamed Myanmar name for the duration of temporary lease.
Myanmar is currently using the satellites of Hong Kong and Thailand, and Intelsat V satellites for communications and television broadcasts.

USA satellite is hired for the development of communication of Myanmar said by U Kyaw Myo, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Transport and Communications, after the 2nd People’s Assembly meeting held on 19th May.
“Currently the Ministry of Transport and Communications will hire the Satellite and will use as Myanmar Satellite.
That is a communications satellite and just a lease.
It is like we belong a room at a condominium.
I am sure that it will be with our own name.
We will hire from the US”

Myanmar urgently needs to launch an owned satellite for communications sector as well as for agriculture, Disaster prevention, and Ground measuring sector.
In order to do so, a committee inclusive of Vice-President and all Ministers is being organized and will carry on.
“But this is not the state wholly owned.
Almost all of the neighboring countries have their own satellite.
Satellite is not only for communications.
There are various types of satellites such as for agriculture, ground measurements, and natural disaster prevention.
Myanmar is trying to be able to launch a state owned satellite in one day for the political, economic sector and disaster prevention for the people.”
In the upcoming 2018-2019 Fiscal year, the budget will be allocated depending on the benefits, and to make the decision to launch the state owned satellite is approved in the first meeting of “Myanmar owned satellite system establishment Steering Committee”.
