The availability of YPS Card system in YBS and its things to watch out

YPS Card is an official recognized card by Yangon Region Government. This card is to be used at Yangon Public Transportation Service YBS. YPS Cards will be available o YBS Buses from the 21st of this month.

YPS Cards can be purchased at YPS Customer Service Center and G&G Stores, YPS Authorized Representatives. All Myanmar citizens and foreigners living in Myanmar can buy this YPS Card. YPS will be responsible for the performance of the YPS Card. The value of the card purchased will not be refunded.

YPS Cards can be Top-Up at YPS Customer Service Center and G&G Stores, authorized reseller of YPS. A receipt will be issued by the store according to the top-up amount. The customer can check whether the top-up receipt is the same as the top-up amount at the machine. If there is any problem with the card when topping up, the customer can come to the YPS Customer Service Center in person.

As the Maintenance Terms and Conditions of the YPS Cards, the cardholder is the only responsible for the security and maintenance of the YPS Card. Blending, perforation, placing near extremes of temperature, humidity, and near magnetic fields can damage the function of the card. The damage caused by user negligence will not be covered by YPS One Year Warranty.

As the way to use the YPS Cards on the bus, the passengers need to touch the card with the Bus Validator installed on the front door of the bus to use the YPS Card. The passenger also needs to tough the Bus Validator installed in the back door when getting off the bus. The cost of the trip will be deducted after touching the card to the machine.

If the passenger forgets to touch the YPS Card to the Bus Validator, the cost will be automatically deducted for the entire trip as soon as the passenger touches the Bus Validator at the beginning of the next trip. Note that the fare for the previous trip will be deducted from the stop to the end of the trip. The YPS card can only for one passenger at a time and one or more passenger is not available yet.

When touching the Bus Validator, it must be kept as close as possible within a maximum distance of 10 cm. If the card function is failed, the user must touch the card again without constantly moving the card left and right. The users only have to tough where the card touches. There will be five sounds when the user tough the card. The “T” sound is a successful signal to the card. The sound “Do not touch the card again” is the warring for the user not to touch again as the first time has successful. It will alert “Remove the card” to try again as the card failed. Another one is “Not enough money”, a warning sound when there is not enough money to pay the cost. And “Cannot be used”, a warning sound that the company has removed the card due to a malfunction.

All YPS cards have a one-year warranty from the date of sale and the free card replacement also comes with a one year warranty if something goes wrong with the card. Customers can inquire about the money stored on the card at YPS Customer Service Centers and G&G stores, which are YPS Authorized Distributors. The remaining balance can also be found out on the bus validator.
