Tesla, the company behind electric cars, reusable home energy generation, and successful ventures in automotive and aerospace, is reportedly moving into the smartphone world as well. According to reports, Tesla’s first smartphone, the Pi Mobile, is expected to go on sale in December 2022.
According to circulating rumors, the Pi phone will use a 6.67-inch OLED panel with a screen resolution of 1284 x 2778 pixels. On the camera side, the rear is said to include a 108MP + 32MP + 16MP + 5MP setup with 200x Space Zoom capability. Camera features are reported to include Dual-pixel PDAF, Dual-LED dual-tone flash, HDR (photo/panorama), ProRes, Cinematic mode, and stereo sound. The selfie camera is reported to be 64MP.
On performance, the Tesla Pi Phone is said to use a Tesla-designed processor built in-house by the company, incorporating design elements from Tesla’s own vehicles to reinforce the brand’s identity.
The phone is reported to include a 5,000 mAh battery, with dimensions of 156.8 x 72.1 x 7.6mm and a weight of around 202 grams. It’s said to run “Tesla OS,” with a UI based on Realme UI, and support dual Nano SIM cards. For storage, it’s reported to come with 6/12GB of RAM and 128/256/512GB of internal storage, expandable up to 1TB.
The Tesla Pi Phone is expected to be available in four colors: Mocha Brown, Black, Polished Blue, and Pink Gold. According to estimated dates, it is expected to go on sale starting December 21.
Being a Tesla product, the phone is also said to support Starlink, SpaceX’s satellite broadband service, which has been available in 36 countries worldwide since July 2022.
According to circulating rumors, the upcoming smartphone will also be able to connect with Tesla vehicle features, which could in turn increase the number of Tesla car owners.
