Huawei Device Business Group (Myanmar) has launched its latest flagship line, the HUAWEI Mate 50 Series, along with the affordable new HUAWEI nova Y61 and the versatile HUAWEI MatePad SE, in Myanmar starting October 28.
The HUAWEI Mate 50 Series was built to mark 10 years since the Mate Series line began, with more advanced technology than expected. Its highly detailed, well-proportioned “orbital design” makes the Mate 50 Series stand out among smartphones. The HUAWEI Mate 50 Pro (Orange) version is built with rugged “Kunlun Glass,” giving it 10 times the drop resistance of other phones. The new Mate Series also achieved the highest score on the DxOMark ranking and has been the best-selling phone in China. With EMUI 13 built in for the first time, the Mate 50 Series delivers enhanced functionality for a smoother smart experience overall, while its SuperHub feature makes sharing data and files between apps and devices effortless.
The HUAWEI Mate 50 Series comes with two back designs: glass and vegan leather. The glass back is available in an elegant Silver and Black, while the vegan leather version comes in Orange, inspired by the colors of sunlight.
HUAWEI’s “Kunlun Glass” contains 10 quadrillion-level nanocrystals, making it both strong and durable. The Mate 50 Series is also the first phone to receive a Five-Star Glass Drop Resistance Certification from Switzerland’s SGS. It also supports IP68 water resistance up to 6 meters underwater, as well as dust resistance.
Huawei introduced its own mobile imaging brand, “XMAGE,” in July 2022, and the Mate 50 Series features the new Ultra-Aperture XMAGE Camera, with a 10-stop adjustable physical aperture and upgraded optical system, mechanical structure, imaging technology, and image processing. In Auto mode, Smart Aperture automatically adjusts aperture size to match the scene, while switching to Professional Mode lets users manually adjust depth of field and blur.
In Portrait mode, the background is naturally blurred to make the subject stand out, and the periscope telephoto camera can zoom up to 200x. The wide-angle macro camera can capture detail down to the millimeter level, revealing fine details clearly. The Mate 50 Series also supports Macro Video shooting and Macro picture-in-picture (PiP) to accurately capture every movement.
Huawei also introduced the HUAWEI nova Y61. One of its most interesting features is the 50MP AI Triple Camera: a 50MP main camera for sharp, clear images, a 2MP depth camera for quality bokeh shots, and a 4cm macro camera for fine detail shots.
The HUAWEI nova Y61 supports Super Night Shot, which captures sharp night shots without needing a tripod, using a multi-frame noise reduction algorithm to make highlights stand out, with long exposure shots supported up to a 6-second shutter.
The HUAWEI nova Y61 also includes intelligent AI Snapshot, which uses Huawei’s scene detection algorithm to automatically recognize motion, adjusting shutter speed via an error-free point-and-shoot function to sharply capture moving subjects — removing the need to learn complex techniques for this kind of shot.
The rear camera on the HUAWEI nova Y61 also includes a Slow Motion feature, especially handy for content creators. It also comes with Master AI, which automatically recognizes subjects and scenes, optimizing light and color to produce better shots across portraits, food photography, sunrise/sunset, snow scenes, and more.
The HUAWEI nova Y61 has a 6.52-inch HD+ built-in display supporting a resolution of 1600 x 720p, offering clear, bright visuals along with 8x Ultra High-Resolution Touch Control for the best experience. It’s a thin, everyday-friendly smartphone with a secure and convenient fingerprint power button — despite its slim body, the side power button reliably reads fingerprints and unlocks the phone with just a touch. Its 5,000 mAh battery supports up to 9.5 hours of gaming, 25 hours of calls, 13.5 hours of web browsing, or 13.3 hours of video playback without interruption. It also supports 22.5W HUAWEI SuperCharge, charging faster than comparably priced products.
The HUAWEI nova Y61 pairs easily with HUAWEI Vision and HUAWEI FreeBuds 3/4/5i, and its Distributed File System lets it connect to a PC and function as a memory drive, making it easy to move files. It also supports smoothly viewing, saving, and transferring files from your phone to your computer wirelessly.
Turning on Simple Mode gives you larger text, bigger icons, and louder sound — a feature that can be especially helpful for older users who may find it harder to keep up with modern technology. Turning on Service Widgets also lets you customize a variety of widgets on your phone for easier, faster access.
The HUAWEI MatePad SE features a 10.4-inch HUAWEI FullView display with an 83% screen-to-body ratio, with narrow 8.5mm bezels to maximize screen space. Its neat, precise bezel design makes visuals appear more vivid. At just 440g, the HUAWEI MatePad SE is very lightweight, comfortable for users of all ages. Beyond its slim body, the middle frame uses a micro-curve design for extra thinness, staying comfortable even during long periods of use.
The blue light and flickering from digital device screens can affect eyesight with prolonged use. To help ease eye strain and reduce fatigue, Huawei has tested modern technologies, and the HUAWEI MatePad SE has received both TÜV Rheinland Low Blue Light Certification and Flicker-Free Certification.
The HUAWEI Mate 50 and Mate 50 Pro will be available with 8GB RAM + 256GB storage, in Black and Silver, while the HUAWEI Mate 50 Pro (Kunlun Glass version) will come with 8GB RAM + 512GB storage in Orange Vegan Leather, going on sale in Myanmar by the end of November. The HUAWEI nova Y61 will come with 6GB RAM + 64GB storage in Midnight Black, Sapphire Blue, and Mint Green, available for pre-order starting October 28, with pricing to be announced soon on Huawei’s official Facebook page. The HUAWEI MatePad SE will come with 4GB RAM + 128GB storage in Graphite Black, going on sale in Myanmar in December.
