ATOM has contributed 2,000 lakh Kyats (MMK 200,000,000) to the Myanmar National League (MNL) to help promote women’s football in Myanmar. Staying true to its commitment to strengthening Myanmar’s society, ATOM has now supported the MNL for two consecutive years, aiming to advance equal opportunities for Myanmar women and elevate the role of women through sports.

The donation ceremony was held at ATOM Myanmar’s head office in Yangon on July 3, 2023, attended by representatives from both ATOM and the Myanmar National League. This year’s contribution of 2,000 lakh Kyats is double the 1,000 lakh Kyats ATOM contributed to the Myanmar National League back in March 2023.
“We’re delighted to be able to invest further in the Myanmar National League’s efforts to drive the growth of women’s football in Myanmar,” said Mr. Ahmad Abdallah, Chief Executive Officer of ATOM. “This contribution reflects ATOM’s belief in the potential of Myanmar’s women’s football scene, and our commitment to consistently supporting women and girls across the country. We believe this financial support will create more opportunities for young women to get involved in sports and help them discover their full potential. By helping more women get involved in sports, this support is part of ATOM’s commitment to empowering young Myanmar women, boosting their confidence, and driving positive change across Myanmar society.”

ATOM’s contribution will go toward better training programs, essential resources, and organizing events aimed at growing Myanmar’s women’s football sector. This includes coaching programs to help improve football skills, team-building sessions, and helping players travel to competitions like trial matches. It also covers training equipment and travel costs.
Over the past year, Myanmar’s women’s national football team has continued to rack up milestone achievements. Among them was a silver medal at the 2023 Southeast Asian Games, marking the team’s fourth such achievement to date. As of the FIFA World Rankings released on June 14, 2024, Myanmar’s women’s national team sits at 54th place, a testament to the steadily improving strength of Myanmar women’s football on the world stage. These milestones highlight the remarkable talent within Myanmar’s women’s football scene, and ATOM remains committed to helping Myanmar’s women’s national team continue on its path to success.
