At its “Far Out” event held on Wednesday, September 7, Apple introduced major updates alongside its latest Apple Watch SE, Apple Watch Ultra, AirPods Pro, iPhone 14, and iPhone 14 Pro.
iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus
The 6.1-inch iPhone 14 and 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Plus both run on the A15 Bionic chip with a 5-core GPU. Running iOS 16, the iPhone 14 offers up to 20 hours of battery life per day, while the iPhone 14 Plus offers up to 26 hours. Beyond improved performance, both feature OLED technology with 1200 nits of HDR brightness, a 2,000,000:1 contrast ratio, and Dolby Vision support.
The dual camera system includes a 12MP main camera with image stabilization for sharp photos in varying light conditions, along with a True Depth camera for low-light shots. An Action Mode is also available to smooth out shake and motion. Video can be recorded at up to 4K/30fps and 4K/24fps using Cinematic Mode.

Colour options include Blue, Purple, Midnight, Starlight, and (PRODUCT)RED. Other features include a satellite-based emergency SOS system that works even without internet access. Pricing starts at $799 for the iPhone 14 and $899 for the iPhone 14 Plus.

Another highlight of the newly unveiled iPhone 14 Series is the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max. Alongside iOS 16, both run on the A16 Bionic chip. Their camera systems include a 48MP main camera, an ultra-wide camera, and a telephoto True Depth camera. Video can also be recorded at 4K/30fps using Cinematic Mode. While the iPhone 14 Plus offers up to 26 hours of battery life, the iPhone 14 Pro Max offers up to 29 hours.

What sets the iPhone 14 Pro apart from anything else is its notch-free design. In place of the notch, the iPhone 14 Pro introduces an interface called Dynamic Island. Notifications that appear while using the phone show up in Dynamic Island. When playing music via Apple Music and exiting the app, it displays as a waveform inside Dynamic Island. Tapping Dynamic Island brings up the currently playing song. It also includes the satellite-based emergency SOS system.
The iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max are available in four colours: Space Black, Silver, Gold, and Deep Purple. Pricing starts at $999 for the iPhone 14 Pro and $1,099 for the iPhone 14 Pro Max.
