MPT accelerates deployment of 4G services in Yangon City!

We have an office in the Sanchaung township in Yangon.
I woke up on the morning of May 27th (Tuesday) and noticed that the display of the communication status of the mobile phone was different from usual.
I felt an obvious sense of incompatibility, and again when I confirmed it, there was a character of “4G”.

When I measure the speed,

it shows 7.87 Mbps for download, 6.43 Mbps for upload, an amazing speed.
I doubt my eyes, I try to measure it three times in succession, but it seems there is no mistake in speed.
The fastest value was download 8.99 Mbps, upload 6.75 Mbps.

It may be that the communication environment of MPT, or the communication environment of Myanmar, is about to change dramatically.

The communication environment of MPT and the communication environment of Myanmar are about to change greatly.
MPT announced “We will deploy 4G across Myanmar in 2017,” and had been developing 4G service in airport and some shopping malls such as Myanmar Plaza since 2016.
Besides that, they finally began offering 4G service even in Yangon city.

Telenor, Ooredoo had deployed 4G service in Yangon, Naypyidaw ahead of MPT, but the area was limited.
Especially concerning Ooredoo, there was a problem such as unstable communication.
Finally MPT started to develop 4G service throughout Myanmar.

What happens when communication speed increases?
There are both advantages and disadvantages due to the higher communication speed.
As a merit, stress at browsing decreases.
Up to now, the page you wanted to see did not come up. The frustration that was held each time will be alleviated.
If the page you want to see is expanding quickly, it will also save you time.
There is a high possibility that content including photos and videos will increase.

On the other hand, there are things you have to be careful about.
That’s an increase in communication costs.
Generally, mobile communication expenses of each company are set by traffic volume.

Therefore, if the communication speed doubles, if you use the Internet the same time as before, you will be able to see at twice the speed.
If so, the communication fee may simply be doubled.
Although people do not double the time to see the content on the web sites, in theory it will.

As far as I confirmed, as of January 2017, Telenor had deployed 4G service in a city Dawei in the southern part of Myanmar.
At that time, when I used the Internet as usual, I was surprised to receive a message saying “Today’s usage has reached 100 MB”.

I think the same thing will continue for a while from now.
Since each company offers a good data pack, you should consider using data packs according to your own Internet usage frequency.

By the way, which company is best when not using data pack? I tried to verify.
Compare for both call charges and data communication charges.

With call charges, MPT offers the lowest plan.
When you join the Shal Pyaw plan, calls between the same carriers are 15 kyat / min.
Calls with other companies is 25 kyat. SMS is 15 kyat / 1 message.
If you do not apply for the Shal Pyaw plan, it is 23 kyat / min regardless of career.
SMS is 10 kyat / 1 message, this is reasonable.

Telenor is the second cheapest, and calls between the same carriers are 18 kyat / min.
25 kyat with other companies. SMS is 15 kyat / 1 message.

Ooredoo is 25 kyat / minute between the same carriers.
30 kyat with other companies. SMS is 20 kyat / 1 message.

If you look only at calling charges, MPT is No. 1, but Telenor is about the same amount.
Although Ooredoo gets a little expensive impression, there is an SMS package owned only by Ooredoo, and you can send SMS in less than 5 kyat in a single chat.

Regarding data communication, although each company develops data packs, we would like to compare data packs from next time onwards.
As data communication charges during normal use without using data pack, MPT offers the lowest price, 6 kyat / MB in Swe Thahar plan.
8 kyat / MB with Shal Pyaw plan.

Ooredoo costs 6 kyat / MB from 21 o’clock to 6 o’clock.
9 kyat / MB from 6 o’clock to 21 o’clock.
(Only Ooredoo change the price depending on the time zone)

Telenor costs 8 kyat / MB.

The cheapest plan is MPT’s Swe Thahar plan.
I would like you to grasp your own data communication usage once before deploying 4G service.
Then, please consider buying a data pack.
