Ooredoo Myanmar continuously supports for major needs of communities affected by Cyclone Mocha in Rakhine State

Since the Cyclone Mocha hit hard to the Rakhine State, Ooredoo Myanmar has been working tirelessly to provide seamless telecommunications services as well as supporting with the major requirements for the community timely and effectively.

Communications is very important at the time of emergency and post-period so that Ooredoo Myanmar took prompt actions to keep people connected. Immediately after the storm, Ooredoo network engineers have been working to restore the affected network sites and now 90% is successfully restored. With the continued efforts, 100% restoration will be completed very soon.

Ooredoo Myanmar also provided unlimited free Ooredoo to Ooredoo calls, SMS and data plan since the cyclone entered Rakhine State and extended till the end of 31st May. In addition, Ooredoo also donated. SIM cards to a local charitable organization to be used for relief works.

Mocha was one of the strongest cyclones ever hit the country and left a path of destruction, especially in Rakhine State. People had to evacuate from their homes and stay at the schools and monasteries and had requirements for food and healthcare items. To support the communities in need, Ooredoo Myanmar donated much-needed food packs and electrolyte powders to the cyclone affected communities in Rakhine State. Ooredoo Myanmar collaborated with a local charitable organization, Shwe Yaung Mitta Foundation to provide the aid effectively to the people who need help. Initially, these food packs and electrolyte powders were distributed to 1500 households in Sittwe and Rathedaung townships.
