Visa says Visa users in Myanmar want to use Biometrics Methods

In November 2019, Visa announced that visa customers in Myanmar would like to use biometric scanning and confirmation methods such as fingerprint, facial features, voice, eye scanning, blood, and DNA in financial payments.

This survey is a follow-up to a survey of customers’ payment and nearly half 40% of all respondents are interested in switching to biometrics for payment and authentication by the survey. This survey is a report that is considered exactly the understanding, attitudes and behaviors of Myanmar with payment and new payment way.

“By looking at new payment methods that are changing the way the users pay. We can see that customers in Myanmar are enjoying the improvement of technological payment methods. We are so excited that Myanmar people who understand technology are aware of the benefits of using digital payments” said Lillian Wang, Country Manager of Visa Myanmar.

According to the survey, the most common type for biometric methods are fingerprint scanning (52%), facial recognition (17%), eye scanning (9%) and voice recognition (5%).

According to the survey, 99% of respondents said that it was easy to use fingerprint scanning which is at the top of the comport level. The facial recognition method is 95% in second place and the voice recognition method comes in third with 91%. For the respondents in Myanmar, the method of eye scanning was the least convenient, which has only 89%.

In this survey, the study on Myanmar Citizens also conducts the understanding and interest of paying methods by using ornaments such as a smartwatch, wristband, and ring. Besides, only 1 of 10, (9%) respondents learned that payment can be made with these accessories. It was reported that about half (41%) of respondents were interested in making payment by using this technology although they notice less about the payment methods.

The smartwatch payment is the most popular with (39%) of respondents with Wristband is (26%) and the method of the ring is (22%) when answering the most preferred way of making payments by Myanmar Citizens. When they asked about the convenience of payment method made with accessories, nearly (99%) of all respondents in Myanmar said the use of Wrist Watch is the most convenient and the method of using smartwatch is 98% in the second place and the method of using ring come in third with 95%.

According to the survey, the customers in Myanmar like to use AI Chatbot for services such as pre-order, payment, products and service subscriptions. Although only 1% of respondents said they have already used AI Charbot and more than 80% of respondents said they were satisfied with these activities.
