As major tech companies race to outdo each other in AI, Microsoft has announced that it will roll out Copilot AI as part of a Windows 11 update on September 26.
Along with the update, many features will change, and a range of conveniences for users will be added. Copilot AI is a toolset that will also be built into the Edge browser. For now, AI won’t be available absolutely everywhere, since it’s being integrated directly into Windows for certain specific use cases. Still, it’s expected to help with things ranging from using PowerPoint to Teams and other software. With Copilot included, built-in apps like Paint, Photos, Snipping Tool, Clipchamp, Notepad, Outlook for Windows, and File Explorer will also become more capable.

Copilot will be added to Bing, Edge, and Microsoft 365 through the free Windows 11 update. This update brings many new features, and AI will be usable in quite a lot of places. At Microsoft’s announcement event, a demo video showing Copilot AI in action was also shown. In the video, users were shown using AI with commands to manage desktop windows, create Spotify playlists, and remove photo backgrounds.
Users will also get a notification on their computer when the September 26 update becomes available. Since this marks the first time AI has been built into Windows 11, the update will include more than 150 new features, making it the biggest update to Windows 11 since its launch.
