MPT, Myanmar’s genuine domestic telecom operator, held collective tree-planting activities at 14 locations across various regions and states on June 30, aiming to further improve the lives of the people of Myanmar. More than 2,000 trees were planted at the selected sites by MPT staff and over 1,000 volunteers.

As part of MPT’s responsible social initiatives, the “Let’s Go Green” program aims to make the environment greener and improve the quality of life for communities nationwide. In keeping with its commitment to “Always By Your Side,” MPT is working to improve communities and the environment, reduce greenhouse gases, and lower carbon emissions. According to traditional Myanmar belief, planting trees brings many merits, since trees provide shelter and food for both humans and animals. As with MPT’s other socially responsible initiatives, this tree-planting activity is expected to be even more successful with the cooperation of local communities.

MPT has been carrying out tree-planting activities since 2017 in cooperation with local environmental and social organizations, volunteer groups, and NGOs. Through this cooperation, more than 17,000 trees have been planted so far, contributing to environmental conservation and biodiversity protection.
