MPT believes that donating blood is a fundamental way to save lives and improve people’s health, which is why it has organized volunteer blood drives with MPT staff and donors since 2016. This year, to mark World Blood Donor Day on June 14, MPT held a blood drive with more than 100 MPT staff and volunteer donors at the National Blood Centre in Yangon on June 12.
Millions of people need clean blood for transfusions every day, and MPT aims to help meet that need as much as it can, with the help of its staff and volunteer donors. According to a report in the Myanma Alin newspaper in January 2024, the National Blood Centre distributed more than 90,000 units of blood in 2023, allowing patients to receive treatment without having to worry about finding donors themselves or covering the associated costs.

MPT is proud to be able to play a part in supporting Myanmar’s blood supply needs, and is deeply grateful to everyone who has donated consistently over the years. Since MPT began organizing blood drives in 2016, it has held them once every four months, apart from during the COVID-19 period. Staff and volunteer donors across Yangon and the various regions and states have together donated 12,048 units of blood to date. This time as well, blood donated by more than 100 donors was handed over to the National Blood Centre.
MPT’s blood drives are an effort carried out in partnership with volunteers to bring positive change and benefit to the community. With the continued support of its staff and volunteer donors, MPT will keep carrying out work that benefits the community.
