MPT SEA-ME-WE5 Cable Restoring Data Benefit

Since April 20, a fault in the SEA-ME-WE5 undersea cable used for Myanma Posts and Telecommunications’ international connectivity has caused slower speeds on MPT’s mobile, FTTH, and related internet services. MPT immediately coordinated with the relevant organizations to restore services to normal, and now announces that internet service speeds have returned to their original levels.

MPT has been working to continuously expand and connect new cable routes to further improve its services. MPT sincerely apologizes to customers for the inconvenience caused during this period, and is deeply grateful for their patience.

MPT will provide a mobile data gift to make up for the inconvenience customers experienced with mobile internet due to the undersea cable fault. Customers can claim this mobile data gift by dialing *2006*5# between June 29 and July 7, with further details sent via SMS. MPT has also already compensated FTTH internet customers affected by the SEA-ME-WE5 undersea cable fault during June, and will announce further compensation during July.

“This incident stands out as one of the most unusual we’ve encountered while providing our telecom services, and we’re treating it with the seriousness it deserves,” said Mr. Kazuhiko Masuda, Co-CEO of MPT-KSGM Joint Operations. “We’re reviewing our processes to prevent similar incidents in the future and working to make ongoing improvements. We’re especially grateful to all our customers for their patience and understanding during this difficult period.”

MPT is deeply grateful to the customers who continue to choose MPT. MPT will keep delivering reliable, high-quality services, and is committed to continuing to maintain and expand its network infrastructure.
