Eate Sut COVID center in Kalay Township is about to close due to the absence of patients

“Eate Sut COVID Center in Kalay Township where hundreds of people died due to the COVID-19 third wave is about to close tomorrow, 17 August for there is no remaining COVID positive patients,” said a person in charge.

Eate Sut COVID Center was once a staff resident which became a COVID Center due to the COVID-19 pandemic before people live there. In Kalay Township, COVID patients are being treated at Traditional Hospitals, Strength Center, and hospitals.

A person in charge said it has been three months since the opening of the Eate Sut COVID Center and treated COVID patients.

In the last week of July, the number of cases and deaths of the virus has dropped significantly in Kalay Township, Sagaing Region, which was hit by a lack of oxygen during the third wave of COVID.

Locals said, “During the end of June and mid-July, an average of more than 10 people died each day, and the death toll from COVID was estimated around 500 in a month.”
