Myanmar Driving License Apps in 2026: What Happened to the Test Practice Apps, and the New Official Renewal App

In February 2019 we introduced four Android apps for people preparing for the Myanmar driving license test: Active Wheel, Safe Driving, Myanmar License Trainer and Myanmar Driver Handbook. They bundled traffic rules, road signs and practice questions in Burmese so you could study on your phone instead of carrying a booklet around.

Most people who still find that article are searching for something like “Myanmar driving license app” or “Myanmar driving license test questions and answers”. So we went back in October 2026 to check what is actually available today. The short version: the practice apps have largely disappeared, but the Road Transport Administration Department (RTAD) now has an official app of its own, for renewing a license rather than studying for one.

The Practice Apps From 2019: Mostly Gone

We could not find any of the four apps from our 2019 article on Google Play today. Our original article did not record their Play Store addresses, so we searched by name and found no current listing.

We also checked two newer test-practice apps that still appear in search results and on APK download sites:

  • Myanmar Driving Test (by ATEC Tech, package com.myanmardriving.test), which offered questions in Burmese and English.
  • Myanmar Driving Licence Test (package com.thenusuccess.myanmar_driving_licence_test), which offered road signs and several hundred practice questions.

In October 2026, both Google Play pages returned “not found”. In other words, neither app can currently be installed from the official store, at least in the regions we checked.

Copies of these apps are still offered as APK files on third-party download sites. We do not recommend installing them. They are no longer updated, their question banks may not match the current rules, and APK mirrors are a common way for malware to reach phones.

The Official App: MM Driver License E-Payment

The real change since 2019 is on the government side. According to an announcement on RTAD’s website, from July 17, 2026 the department started accepting digital payment for driving license service fees, and online early renewal of driving licenses, at these offices:

  • the Naypyitaw office
  • the Yangon East, West, South and North district offices
  • the Mandalay South and North district offices

The announcement says online renewal is available within 90 days before the license expires, and covers the license classes written in Burmese as “ခ”, “ဂ”, “ဃ” and “င”. In the Burmese alphabet these are the second to fifth letters, which matches the B to E classes used in RTAD’s English materials. The announcement does not mention online renewal for other classes.

To use the online service, RTAD tells people to download the MM Driver License E-Payment app from Google Play. Its Play Store listing describes it as a digital service for the Myanmar driver’s license extension process. When we checked in October 2026, it had 10K+ downloads and was last updated on September 30, 2026. The release notes for that update mention bug fixes and “refreshed service charges and platform fees”.

A few things worth knowing before you use it:

  • It is for renewal, not for the test. It does not contain practice questions, and it does not let you apply for a first license.
  • The publisher name looks unofficial. On Google Play the app is listed under “MNGJV”, with an individual’s name and a Gmail address as the developer contact. RTAD’s own announcement names the app and tells people to get it from Google Play, so this appears to be the correct app, but make sure you install the one with the package name com.mm_mngjv_rtad and not a lookalike.
  • Fees are not published in the listing. We could not confirm the current renewal fee or the platform charge.
  • There is no iPhone version that we could find. The announcement refers only to Google Play.

How to Study for the Test Without an App

With the practice apps gone, the most reliable study material is RTAD’s own. Its website, myanmarrtad.com, which was posting updates as recent as October 2026 when we checked, has:

This is the source the old apps were built on in the first place. Studying from it directly means you are reading what RTAD publishes now, not a copy someone made years ago.

We did not find an official RTAD question bank in “questions and answers” format that we could verify, and we are not linking to the PDFs of past questions that circulate on file-sharing sites, because we cannot tell how current they are.

Who Can Apply: Age and License Basics

RTAD’s English New Driving Licence page lists the basic requirements. Among them:

  • An “L” (learner) license requires you to be at least 16, and you must be accompanied by someone teaching you to drive.
  • An “A-1” license requires age 16 or older, a valid L license, and attending an accredited driving school and passing the test.
  • An “A” or “B” license requires age 18 or older and holding an L license for three months (for A, also attending an accredited driving school).

Be careful with the rest of that page: it still refers to the 1989 Motor Vehicle Rules and quotes fees in FEC (Foreign Exchange Certificates), which Myanmar abolished long ago. Myanmar has since adopted the Road Safety and Motor Vehicle Management Law (2020) and its 2022 rules, both listed on the same website. So treat the fees and some details on that page as outdated, and confirm with your local RTAD office before you go.

Our Take: The App That Matters Changed

In 2019 the “driving license app” was something made by enthusiasts to help you pass a test. In 2026, the app that actually saves you time is a government one that lets you renew without standing in line, at least in Naypyitaw, Yangon and Mandalay.

That shift has a downside. The private practice apps disappeared quietly, and nothing official replaced them. If you are a first-time applicant, you are back to studying from RTAD’s booklet and website, or from a driving school. And the renewal app itself shows how thin the official digital layer still is: a Google Play listing under a developer name most users will not recognize, no published fee schedule, and no iPhone version. It works, but it asks for a lot of trust.

If you only need to renew a B to E class license and live near one of the listed offices, the app is worth trying. For everything else, call RTAD first.

RTAD Contact Numbers

The July 2026 announcement lists these numbers for questions about the online system:

  • Head Office (Naypyitaw): 067-3405099
  • Naypyitaw office: 067-4510062, 067-4510064
  • Yangon Region office: 09-954921000
  • Mandalay Region office: 09-43096980

RTAD’s official addresses also include rtad.gov.mm and mot.gov.mm, but neither site loaded for us when we checked in October 2026.

What We Could Not Confirm

  • Whether any of the four apps from our 2019 article still exist under another name
  • The current renewal fee and the app’s platform charge
  • Whether online renewal has expanded beyond Naypyitaw, Yangon and Mandalay
  • The current fee for a new license and the current test format (number of questions, pass mark)
  • Whether RTAD’s online test booking for Yangon, which existed in earlier years, is still running

FAQ

Is there an official Myanmar driving test practice app?

We could not find one. RTAD’s official app, MM Driver License E-Payment, is for license renewal and fee payment, not test practice. For study material, use the road signs, driver guide and testing-procedure pages on myanmarrtad.com.

Can I renew my Myanmar driving license online?

According to RTAD, from July 17, 2026 you can renew B to E class licenses (written in Burmese as ခ, ဂ, ဃ and င) online, within 90 days before they expire, through the MM Driver License E-Payment app on Google Play. The service started at the Naypyitaw office and the district offices in Yangon and Mandalay.

Where can I download the old practice apps like Active Wheel or Safe Driving?

They are no longer on Google Play as far as we could find. We do not recommend installing old APK copies from third-party sites.

How old do I need to be to get a driving license in Myanmar?

According to RTAD’s New Driving Licence page, 16 for a learner (L) license and the A-1 class, and 18 for the A and B classes. Confirm with RTAD, since parts of that page predate the 2020 law.

Can I pay driving license fees with a mobile wallet?

RTAD says it accepts digital payment for driving license services at the listed offices from July 17, 2026, but the announcement does not say which payment services are supported. We could not confirm that.
