The HUAWEI Mate 50 Series was made to mark the 10th anniversary of the Mate series, and comes packed with even more cutting-edge technology than expected. The HUAWEI Mate 50 Pro Vegan Leather Version uses a rugged “Kunlun Glass” that is 10 times more drop-resistant than other phones. The Mate series also holds the top spot on the DxOMark ranking and is the best-selling phone in China — pre-orders topped 2.45 million units, and stock sold out within 10 seconds on its first day of sale. The HUAWEI Mate 50 Pro Vegan Leather Version originally launched in Orange, and the new Carbon Black color is now available in the Myanmar market.
HUAWEI’s “Kunlun Glass” contains 10-quadrillion-level nanocrystals, making it exceptionally tough and durable. The Mate 50 Series is also the first phone to receive Switzerland’s SGS Five-Star Glass Drop Resistance Certification, and it carries an IP68 rating, resisting dust and water submersion up to 6 meters deep.
Huawei introduced its own mobile imaging brand, “XMAGE,” in July 2022, and the HUAWEI Mate 50 Series comes with an Ultra-Aperture XMAGE Camera built around it. The Ultra-Aperture XMAGE Camera features a physical adjustable aperture with 10 times more range than before, along with upgrades to its optical system, mechanical structure, imaging technology, and image processing. In Auto mode, Smart Aperture automatically adjusts the aperture size to match the scene, while switching to Professional Mode lets users manually adjust depth of field and blur.

In Portrait mode, the background is naturally blurred to make the subject stand out, while the periscope telephoto camera can zoom up to 200x. The wide-angle macro camera can capture detail down to the millimeter level, rendering even tiny specks with striking clarity. The HUAWEI Mate 50 Series also supports macro video shooting and macro picture-in-picture (PiP) so every movement is captured precisely.
The HUAWEI Mate 50 Series is also the first smartphone to ship with the latest EMUI 13, built for smoother, more convenient everyday use. Its SuperStorage feature automatically removes duplicate files and compresses rarely used apps, freeing up to 20GB of extra space for photos and videos (on the 256GB ROM model). The Mate 50 Series’ curved 6.74-inch display also runs at a 120Hz refresh rate, and its 1440Hz PWM dimming reduces flicker for more comfortable viewing.
