It is a free mobile application engaging between buyers and sellers for recyclables such as water bottles, glass bottles, newspapers, journals, paper, broken battery containers, old electronics, plastic containers, etc. Responsible Business Fund (RBF), as a part of the Danish Development Assistance, has partially funded/aided in building this application.

The sellers can install the App ‘Recycle Myanmar User’ and require selecting the size of the item they want to sell, set the location, and enter the address. Through the ‘Recycle Myanmar Picker App’ that used GPS, the buyers also can purchase the recyclables without the need to go around looking for them.

The purpose of developing this app is to be a system that manages easy buying and selling the recyclables through the Application without even touching them.

“It is a network development as well to manage wastes. Everyday Myanmar generates over twenty thousand tons of wastes. We designed it for easy trade of wastes generated from residents, teashops, and restaurants through this App. The App has been introduced in Pyay and Mandalay Cities and plans to launch in Yangon in the coming year start. If demands for Application use is high, later on, we will take charge to some extent/amount. We will proceed to another location only if the current consumption is stable in one area,” said Ko Pone Nya, the developer of Recycle Myanmar Application.

“The buyer can search recyclables for trade via Tele conversation without going around the street like in the past. Likewise, the seller can save time by selling their recyclables at his own house without the necessity of going to the recycle shops. When the buyer and seller trade well, trashes would no longer be disposed to the surroundings, and that is a way of environmental conservation”, he continued.

It has two separate roles in the App, namely the B2C platform and the B2B platform. On the B2C platform, Mobile App, like Grab App, connects the vendors and buyers of recyclables. Whereas the B2B platform, companies can do resale of recyclables as in Business directory and order them as raw materials online through Recycle Myanmar.

It has been launched in Mandalay City since after testing in Pyay City for three months. Currently, it has over 200 buyers and 700 sellers using this App around Pyay and Mandalay Cities and expects to be followed by other states and regions. This App is currently usable on the Android device and will be available on the IOS device soon.
