AI that can chat, brainstorm with you, and act like a personal assistant is popping up everywhere these days. With so many AI models out there, if you’re looking for one that’s genuinely useful, free to use, and won’t cost you a lot of money, finding the right fit for you takes a fair bit of searching.
OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Microsoft’s Copilot are both free to use and come packed with a wide range of features. But are there other AI models that can actually go toe-to-toe with these tech giants? As it turns out, yes. Anthropic’s Claude AI has emerged as a large language model (LLM) rivaling ChatGPT ever since it introduced its new GPT-4-class model in 2023.
Claude AI from Anthropic is free to use, though it’s currently only available as a web version — there’s no image generation feature either. But Claude does have its own strengths: while ChatGPT’s context window sits at 32,000 tokens, Claude’s goes up to 200,000 tokens, and up to 1,000,000 tokens for certain use cases. Language-wise, it can converse in more than 10 languages, including English, Japanese, Spanish, Chinese, and German.
Claude AI’s writing comes across as more human and shows real creativity. It’s also strong at proofreading and fact-checking to catch errors, and it’s trained on data through 2023. When it comes to finding mistakes, it can pinpoint them precisely and suggest accurate corrections. Compared to other AI models, Claude feels more human and emotionally attuned. With its larger context window, Claude also tends to outperform ChatGPT when it comes to analysis. From identifying ingredients in a photo of a dish, to conducting precise research, summarizing content, planning trips, and writing emails, Claude is an AI that’s genuinely good at brainstorming whatever you’re working on — whether you’re using it as a personal assistant or as a team member.
