MMW POS is an extremely important POS software system for small grocery stores and anyone running their own small business. That’s because it lets you easily print receipts for whatever you sell, which in turn boosts customer satisfaction.
Before launching MMW POS Software System, the business started out around 2017 selling electronic products. It wasn’t until early 2019 that it began selling POS systems — a time when POS systems were still not very well known.

“When we started, POS systems were still fairly expensive — at minimum, the software alone cost around 300,000 kyats, and that didn’t even include POS printers. So we started with the goal of offering POS software that grocery stores and small shops could use for around 100,000 kyats,” said Kyaw Yea Naing, Owner of MMW POS System, explaining his motivation.
When MMW POS launched, people didn’t yet know that a POS system could be used at an affordable price. Customers worried whether an affordable POS system was even possible. At the time, people also assumed POS systems could only be connected to a computer, believing it would be inconvenient to pair with a phone.
“Back then, people assumed you’d need to spend millions of kyats just to get a POS system. We had to do quite a bit of public education at the time. Now, about half of Myanmar’s businesses know about it fairly well. What we mainly sell now are Bluetooth printers — the kind that connect with a phone. We also sell the kind that connect to a computer. Aside from gold shops and pawn shops, it’s POS that basically any retail shop can use — including for fuel stations and other vehicle depots for tracking goods coming in and out,” said Kyaw Yea Naing.
Because prices fluctuate, we can’t set a fixed price, but we currently sell starting from 120,000 kyats at the lowest. When the POS System first launched, it sold for around 60,000 kyats. Since launch, around 1,500 shops have purchased and now use the POS System Software, with around 2,000 units sold in total.
“Later on, we’re also developing our own software to make things even easier to use. For other services, we do marketing in cities and at shops, explaining and teaching how to use it. For hardware, we offer a 3-month warranty. On the software side, there’s almost nothing lacking. If a user doesn’t know how to use it, we make video files explaining it in Myanmar ourselves. For users in far-off towns, we send them video files too, so they can watch and follow along,” Kyaw Yea Naing explained.

When customers first buy an MMW POS printer, they get a roll of receipt paper included as a gift, and for anyone who needs more later, a roll currently costs around 700 kyats. MMW POS also sells barcode printers, as well as sticker printers that can print custom text as needed. For customers who come to the shop, the POS software is installed directly onto their phone with guidance on how to use it, while for those ordering from out of town, instructional videos are shared to teach them.
“Our biggest customers by far are grocery stores and small shops. Second are food and beverage shops, especially tea shops. We also have customers who sell food online. Phone shops, motorbike and car spare parts shops, and hardware stores use it too, as do pharmacies. One more thing I’d add — before buying, please do your research carefully. We only want you to buy if it actually suits your business. We often run into situations where people buy based on secondhand information and it doesn’t work out for them,” he said.
